24/7 Supported Accommodation:
Round-the-Clock Professional Care in Therapeutic Home Environments
Our 24/7 supported accommodation services provide the highest level of support for young people aged 16-18 who need intensive assistance to develop independent living skills. These services, delivered in carefully designed residential homes that accommodate between 3-5 young people, create the perfect balance between individual support and peer interaction, fostering both personal development and social skills.
The Physical Environment:
Each of our 24/7 supported homes has been carefully designed to feel like a genuine family home rather than an institutional setting. Young people have their own bedrooms, personally decorated to reflect their tastes and interests, providing private space for rest, study, and reflection. Communal areas including comfortable lounges, fully equipped kitchens, and dining spaces encourage social interaction and the development of household skills in a natural, supportive environment.
Our homes feature gardens or outdoor spaces where young people can relax, exercise, or engage in therapeutic activities like gardening. We’ve invested in quality furnishings and maintain high standards of decoration and maintenance, sending a clear message to young people that they deserve nice things and comfortable surroundings. This attention to the physical environment significantly impacts young people’s wellbeing and their ability to take pride in their living space.
Consistent, Professional Support
Staffing Model:
Our 24/7 services maintain minimum staffing ratios of 2:5 during waking hours and 1:5 during sleep-in shifts, though these are often exceeded based on resident needs. Staff teams are carefully constructed to provide consistency, with designated key workers providing individual support whilst maintaining team approaches that ensure young people receive coherent, coordinated care.
Each young person is allocated a primary key worker and co-worker within 48 hours of arrival, beginning relationships that often become transformational. Key workers meet with their young people at least weekly for formal sessions, but much of the most valuable work happens during informal moments – cooking together, driving to appointments, or late-night conversations when worries feel overwhelming. These relationships, built on trust, consistency, and genuine care, provide the secure base from which young people can begin to heal and grow.
Structure, Routine, and Flexibility
Daily Life:
Life in our 24/7 supported accommodation follows structured routines that provide predictability and security whilst maintaining flexibility to meet individual needs. Weekdays typically begin with supported morning routines, ensuring young people attend education or training provisions with everything they need for successful days. Evenings involve communal meals, homework support, and recreational activities that build relationships and social skills.
Weekends offer opportunities for life skills development, recreational activities, and maintaining important relationships. Young people participate in menu planning and food shopping, learn to prepare meals with support, and take responsibility for keeping their living spaces clean and tidy. These activities aren’t just about skill development – they’re about building confidence, self-esteem, and the belief that young people are capable of managing independent lives.
Healing Through Relationship
Therapeutic Approaches:
Our 24/7 services employ trauma-informed approaches that recognise many young people have experienced significant adverse childhood experiences. Rather than focusing solely on behaviour management, we work to understand the root causes of challenging behaviour, helping young people develop insight into their emotions and healthier coping strategies.
We utilise various therapeutic models including:
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) for de-escalation and emotional regulation
- Attachment-based approaches that rebuild trust and secure relationships
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques for managing anxiety and depression
- Mindfulness and relaxation strategies for emotional regulation
- Restorative justice approaches for conflict resolution
Prioritising Learning
Education and Achievement:
Education remains a primary focus within our 24/7 services, with dedicated education coordinators working alongside support teams to ensure every young person accesses appropriate education or training. We work closely with schools, colleges, and training providers to advocate for young people, address barriers to learning, and celebrate achievements.
For young people not in formal education, we provide alternative provisions including:
- One-to-one tutoring for core subjects
- Vocational training opportunities
- Work experience placements
- Life skills education programs
- Digital learning resources and support
Our education support extends beyond academic achievement to address underlying issues that might impact learning, such as anxiety, low self-esteem, or specific learning difficulties. We celebrate all achievements, recognising that for some young people, simply attending education regularly represents enormous progress.
Holistic Health Support
Health and Wellbeing:
Physical and mental health support forms an integral part of our 24/7 services. We ensure all young people are registered with GPs, dentists, and opticians, supporting them to attend appointments and understand their health needs. Our staff are trained to support medication management, recognise signs of physical and mental ill-health, and respond appropriately to health emergencies.
Mental health support is embedded throughout service delivery, with access to:
- In-house mental health first aiders
- Referrals to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)
- Therapeutic interventions from qualified counsellors
- Group wellbeing sessions and workshops
- Crisis intervention and safety planning
